To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time this German single malt whisky is available in Australia.  Since 2012, St. Kilian has been producing internationally award winning single malt whisky in the Scottish tradition, made in Germany and inspired by whisky cultures from around the world.  Pure barley malt meets copper pot stills, and decades of whisky know-how meets German engineering.

Four years after the founders had the idea and had developed the plan to establish the largest whisky distillery in Germany, in the beautiful Odenwald near Miltenberg on the Main, the first Spirit of St Kilian flowed from the distillery’s two 6,000 litre Forsyth copper stills.  In 2019, the team presented its first three year old single malt whisky, setting new quality standard standards in the production of “whisky made in Germany”.  The name St Kilian is dedicated to a monk from Ireland, who more than 1,000 years ago impressed and convinced the Germanic people of the miraculous qualities of Aqua Vitae, using it to help in Christianising Franconia in the 7th century.

For the St Kilian Peated, heavily peated barley malt, from the Scottish Highlands and with a phenol content of 54 ppm, was used.  Juicy pears and ripe bananas surrounded by peat smoke lead to creamy fruit compote and dark toffee, underlined by ashy smoke and a subtly dry oak spice.  46% ABV, 0.70 litres per bottle
